Synopsis: A sad dog and a bored man lead to an interesting song.
Blake and Miranda were sitting on his bus in Nashville. They had just finished lunch and were cleaning up before Miranda had to leave for rehearsals for her new album.
“Stop flicking water on me Blake,” Miranda said but she couldn’t hide the smile on her face. “Stop,” she said but Blake wouldn’t stop. Miranda grabbed the faucet and pointed it at Blake’s face. “No baby don’t,” Blake said and Miranda smirked before she turned on the water and sprayed.
“Gahhh,” Blake said. “Your dead,” he said and Miranda ran down the hall and towards the bathroom. She figured if she could get to the bathroom she could lock the door and she would be safe. She was about 4 feet from the door when Blake grabbed her.
“Ahh,” Miranda said as Blake picked her up and dropped her on the bed and then proceeded to climb on top of her. “Truce,” Miranda said and Blake nodded. “Just kidding,” Blake said and then he started to tickle her. “No baby, please,” Miranda, screamed through her laughter. Blake laughed at her and then continued his tickling on her sides. Her face was red from all the laughter and screaming.
“I’m going to pee,” Miranda said and Blake flinched, which was just enough time for Miranda to flip him over and climb on top of him. “I love you,” she said and he grinned. “I love you too, beautiful,” he said pulling her down and closer to his lips.
They kissed passionately on the bed for a while, just exploring each other’s mouths. It had been a few weeks since they had seen each other and it was nice to be with the guy you loved.
“Miranda Leigh, let’s go,” her Momma said as she started walking towards the back. “Crap,” Miranda said as she climbed quickly off Blake and he rolled to a sitting position.
She stood up quickly, trying to make her hair look more presentable. Blake smirked at her and she glared at him. “Coming Momma,” she said as they both walked towards the front of the bus.
“Hey Blakey,” Miranda said. “Will you watch Delilah for me, please?” Miranda pleaded. “Umm,” Blake said and Miranda smacked him. “Please” she said as she pouted and he groaned.
“Well, now I can’t say no to that face,” Blake said and Miranda smiled. “Thank you baby,” she said and she kissed him. “Miranda, you are going to be late,” her Momma said as she walked off the bus.
“Geeze, I’m coming,” Miranda said as she rolled her eyes. Blake picked up Delilah and held her as Miranda told her goodbye.
Blake put her down as Miranda left and walked over to the couch, sitting down and turning on the hunting channel.
Delilah looked at him and looked back at the door. She jumped up on the chair and watched Miranda leave.
“Come here Delilah,” Blake said and the dog whimpered. “Come on Delilah. I will feed you; pet you, whatever you want. You just look pathetic.”
The dog looked at him and back at the window. She whimpered again and then jumped off the seat and walked towards Blake. Come here Delilah,” he said and picked her up, putting her on the couch.
He proceeded to turn his attention back to the hunting show. Delilah whimpered again and Blake groaned. “What, Delilah,” he said as though the dog could answer him.
She jumped off the couch and ran to the guitar. He looked at her strangely and then got up and picked up the guitar. He sat back down on the couch, now holding the guitar. Delilah jumped back on the couch and curled up next to Blake.
“What the hell,” he thought and then it came to him. “But you can’t blame no one but you Delilah, For what you find when you never ever look around, Reach out for the one right here beside you, and find the one that’s never gonna let you down.”
In 20 minutes the whole song was written and Delilah was sitting contently next to Blake. Blake re-wrote all the lyrics down on a new sheet of paper, so he could play it for his label. “It would fit great for the Hillbilly bone record; they were looking for just one more song,” Blake thought.
He got up and put the guitar back down and proceeded to lie down on the couch. He picked up Delilah and laid her on his chest. He proceeded to fall asleep watching the hunting channel and that is how Miranda found them a few hours later.
“Awe,” she said as she climbed on the bus and spotted them. She took a picture and then put her phone down.
The movement must have woken up Delilah cause she started barking in excitement. She jumped off Blake’s chest and ran towards Miranda, barking excitedly.
Miranda laughed as she picked up her dog and looked at her boyfriend. Blake was staring back at her. “Your back early,” he said and she grinned. “I worked really hard because I wanted to see you sooner,” Miranda said.
Blake grinned and Delilah barked. She jumped out of Miranda’s arms and ran towards the guitar, barking excitedly.
“What is she doing,” Miranda wondered and Blake shrugged his shoulders. “No clue,” he said and Delilah growled at him.
“I think you made her mad, baby,” Miranda said and Blake groaned. “Here,” he said and handed her the paper.
“What’s this?” Miranda asked. “Oh, just a song I wrote while you were gone,” Blake said and Miranda looked at him strangely.
She read the lyrics and then she melted. “You wrote a song about Delilah,” Miranda said with laughter.
“Shut up,” Blake said and rolled his eyes. “I’m just kidding Baby,” she said. “Will you play it for me?” she asked and Blake agreed.
Miranda sat on the couch next to Blake, but Delilah growled at her. “What,” Miranda said. “She has never growled at me.”
Blake looked at her. “That’s Delilah’s seat. She sits there,” he said and Miranda looked at him.
“Umm, okay,” she said as she got up and sat on the other chair. Delilah jumped up on the coach and sat exactly where Miranda had been. Blake smirked and then started playing the song.
It was beautiful and sounded so good on the guitar. “It’s beautiful, baby,” Miranda said. “I love that’s it about my dog,” she said and Blake smiled.
“I am going to put it on my record. I think it will fit perfectly with all the other songs.”
“Really,” Miranda said excited. “And no, you are not a writer and I won’t put your name as a writer on the CD,” Blake said and Miranda pouted.
“Please,” she said and Blake shook his head. “Fine,” Miranda said as she got up. “I love this song and I love you,” she said and grabbed his hand.
“Come on honey,” she said. “I need to reward you for taking care of Delilah and writing her a song,” Miranda said and Blake grinned before he lifted her into his arms and headed into the bedroom. He shut the door, all thoughts of the dog forgotten, as he proceeded to make love to his beautiful girlfriend.
